San Esteban, Ilocos Sur -- Glimpse of San Esteban

The glimpse of San Esteban is in the form of an informative brochure that can be distributed to our fellow San Estebanians and keep it as a keepsake and at the same time be always proud of our town. This can also be handed down to guests and tourists who are visiting our town. This was an initial idea of Vice Mayor Norman Mendoza. Until Leilani Estepa of San Juan, Ilocos Sur visited our Website and contacted me regarding the historical sites of San Esteban. Our Website became one of the intruments in achieving the Glimpse of San Esteban. Leilani is the secretary of Ilocos Sur Historical Society (ISHISO), a voluntary organization under the auspices of the provincial government of Ilocos Sur with the main goal of preserving all the historical sites of our province.

Subsequently, I contacted Vice Mayor regarding this matter. The staff of ISHISO visited our town, met Vice Mayor and planned for the realization of this brochure. There were several instances that ISHISO organized a meeting in our town and recruited new members of ISHISO. Vice Mayor Norman V. Mendoza, Raffy Taguiam, secretary of the Mayor and Arturo Barrey, DSWD clerk are the new recruits of ISHISO representing San Esteban.

Pictures were taken last July 4, 2003 at Diosdada Abad's (formerly Sangguniang Bayan Member) residence/resort in Apatot where a luncheon was prepared with the members of ISHISO coming from the various towns of Ilocos Sur to prepare and work to finalize the format of Glimpse of San Esteban.

Last month, 1,000 copies of Glimpse of San Esteban were presented to our municipality courtesy of the Governor through the recommendation of ISHISO. Vice Mayor NVM brought some copies with him to be distributed on the Terra Bella fiesta this coming Labor Day weekend. Everyone is welcome to have a copy.
